Desired Results
Co-Teaching: List the co-teaching style you’ll be using and why you have chosen this co-teaching method.

  • One teaches, one assists – While one teacher is “Taking the Test” the other teacher will be “Giving the Test”.
Learning Objective: Key Understanding(s) you intend students to obtain:

  • Key Understanding(s) will be similar to the previous day as this will be a review/practice/test day.
  • Student will understand the importance of always starting with the 3 C’s when coming upon a choking situation and understand how to correctly administer CPR to an unconscious choking child.
Assessment Evidence
What do you want your students to know?

  • The 3 C’s (check, care, call)
  • How to correctly open the airway.
  • How to check for breathing.
  • How to correctly give rescue breaths.
  • How to correctly give chest compressions.
What do you want students to be able to do?

Students will be able to correctly demonstrate:

  • Head tilt / Chin lift
  • Give rescue breaths
  • Give chest compressions
  • Checking for Breath
Group Accountability (Formative Evaluation)
How will you check to see whether your class has met your learning objectives?

  • Observation. Student will be expected to practice correct steps of what they would do if they were to find a unconscious choking adult, child, or infant.

  • When student demonstrates (tests) the correct technique of giving rescue breaths and chest compressions to a unconscious choking child they will earn a stamp in their packet for that section and be able to move on to the next session.

Learning Plan
What key vocabulary/language will students need to know to meet the learning objective?

  • Chest Compressions
  • Rescue Breaths
  • Head-Tilt
  • 3 C’s (Check, Call, Care)
  • Check for Breathing
How will you teach this key vocabulary to enable students to meet the learning objective?

  • The key vocabulary will be discussed as we go through the lesson. In addition to knowing the definition of each word the students will be able to know the skill that goes along with each word. For example, the child will know what chest compressions are and also know how to correctly administer the chest compressions.
What is/are the Essential/Guiding Question(s) for this Lesson? (It should correlate to your learning objective.)

  • What is the importance of studying what to do in a situation where you find an unconscious choking child – Why is this important to know?

  • Who should we always remember to protect 1st?
How will you differentiate for all the learners.
Materials/Resources Required:

  • Manikins, Breathing Masks, Study Guide

Preview Class

Ms. Hinz discusses with the class what they will be working on for the day. She explains to them that she and Mr. Higgins are going to demonstrate how the test will be administered and given. She also explains that they will be given time to practice and they can contact her when they are ready to be tested.

Test Preview / Co-Teach

During this 10 minutes I will model the 9th grade student that is taking my test. Ms. Hinz will model how the test will be given. The test will be administered to me by Ms. Hinz exactly as it will be administered to the actual 9th grade students. The students will be able to see how the test is administered and what they should be ready for when they are taking the test.
10 Minutes
Practice & Test

Once the students observe how the test will be administered the will have the rest of the class period to practice their skills and when they are ready will tell on of the testing teachers that they are ready and they will then be able to take their exam. During the practice time I will meet with the students in pairs and answer any questions they may have regarding the test that they will be taking.I will stress to the students to take their time and to be very specific on how they do each portion of the test.
